NEW STUDIO
It’s been a long time doing the blog thing on here. I wish I could give a list of reasons that didn’t begin and end with “Laziness”.
Long story short, Collabery lost it’s spot for the time being. It was bittersweet for me. It was a good space with great vibes. It was filled with great art and even better people who I am happy to call friends now. I met a lot of very cool art enthusiasts, some of whom I was happily able to supply them with a piece of art for their home.
101 Bridge street might not be Collabery’s home now, but something new is in the works. (A blog for another time)
So the timing of this coincided with a studio spot opening up at The Upstairs Studio Artists building. It was a place I fell in love with the moment I first entered the building. The characteristics of the building itself, and the awesome creators inside of it. Every First Friday opening I would walk up there from our Gallery to hang out and talk a little shop. I’m surprised that they didn’t tire of me. It was a place I knew I needed to be a part of at some point in my journey. I never expected a spot to open up for me, let alone right when Collabery was closing. It was a sign. And now I have an amazing space that will allow me to go bigger, to work on multiple projects at the same time. And most importantly, to learn and be inspired by all of the talented and amazing people there.
This will also help me to expand my brand, so to speak. I sometimes think at Collabery, I was settling knowing I had a permanent place to show. I was a little lazy with sending out my portfolio to other galleries. This is both an exciting and stressful thing for me to do. I will have to get myself ready for rejection, which I know we all have to deal with from time to time. I’m chomping at the bit to get to the studio now, so I’m ending this blog with a message for myself:
CARPE DIEM (Seize…not pluck!)
